Obituary

The family and friends of Pamela Lozow are deeply saddened to announce her passing on May 10th, 2024. She passed away peacefully at Saint Joseph's Hospital and surrounded by dearly loved ones.

Pam was born on May 6th, 1947 in Elkhart Indiana to Charles and Nadine Moore. Growing up in rural Indiana was an early, bucolic life of small town living surrounded by family, country fields, lakes, and where she found her life-long hobby of reading and literature.

After graduating from Indiana University with a degree in English Literature, she then moved to downtown Chicago and began her first job with the Cook County Social Services Department. It is here within the backdrop of a turbulent 1968 Chicago that Pam found her vocation as a Social Activist/Advocate working with disenfranchised people from all backgrounds.

In 1973 she moved to the Denver metro area. Pam started work with the Clear Creek Youth Services and began her career helping others. This job included many multi-week excursions out into the wilderness with inner-city youth that involved backpacking, wilderness survival, and rock climbing with the goal of fostering relationships and trust building.

Later, she graduated from Denver University with a Master of Social Work. Upon receiving her MSW, Pam spent the rest of her life leading several organizations in a variety of capacities. Some of these organizations include – SafeHouse Denver, Karlis Family Center, and Warren Village. Even in retirement, Pam kept working as a Supervisor/Field Liaison with Denver University that primarily involved supporting and training a new generation of Social Workers.  She was well known and respected among her fellow colleagues and prized for her wisdom and experience.

Pam loved her work. It was a vocation and a natural extension of her inner self.  Pam was kind, thoughtful, patient, and generous in spirit. She had the unique gift of listening and lifting people up in crisis. She always believed in second chances and would always go out of her way for a client, a friend or family. Pam was always interested in new ideas, bringing people together, and moving forward together.  She was exceptionally fun, irreverent, smart, sassy - all combined with a wonderful and boisterous laugh.

Pam leaves behind several cousins including Dennis Canote of Columbia Missouri, James Canote of Columbia Missouri, Ronnie Canote of Clark Missouri, Judy Moore Hendershot of Elkhart Indiana, Gregory Moore of Bloomington Indiana, and Sarah Robinson. She also leaves behind several close friends that miss her warmth, kindness, and smile.  Pam is preceded in death by her parents - Charles Lee Moore and Nadine Ann Moore, and Carol Moore her sister.

If you would like to make a contribution in honor of Pam's life and work, contributions can be made to Warren Village or Planned Parenthood

A celebration of Pam's life is planned for this summer. Details are forthcoming.
