Obituary

Patricia "Pat" Penix Bollacker of Denver, Colorado died on Sunday, June 16, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Pat was the youngest daughter of Dr. Lex and Betty Penix, born on June 18, 1947 in Denver. Pat graduated from South High School in 1965. After high school, Pat attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins for two years before transferring to the University of Colorado Boulder, where she earned her BA in 1969. She would go on to earn her Master's of Education from CU Denver. Pat met her husband Brian while working at the Denver Dry Goods in Cherry Creek. They had their first date at the Cherry Cricket.

Pat dedicated her career to teaching elementary school for Denver Public Schools. She was always working hard to ensure a fun and exciting experience for her students. Pat impacted the lives of hundreds of people over the course of her lifetime. She was known for her kindness and her caring demeanor.

Over the years, Pat was involved in a variety of activities when she wasn't busy driving her kids to swim meets, football games or being a High Rockies Bus Supervisor. She was a founding member of Chapter HO of PEO and a regular attendee at Christ's Church in Castle Rock. One of her most treasured activities was taking her grandchildren to the zoo, or the museum or the botanic gardens. She made sure to wear one of her favorite shirts with pride- "My favorite people call me Nana." She also enjoyed spending time up at the cabin near Grand Lake, always looking for moose, both real ones and cute stuffies for decoration.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Carillon at Belleview Station where she spent the past five years living a life of adventures and activities in the memory care unit. We are especially grateful to Tiffany Barahona Artiga and her staff for always loving Pat and appreciating her smile. Pat knew she was loved by many, even in her last days.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Brian W. Bollacker. Pat is survived by her three children Amanda (Justin) Schmidt of Centennial, Christian of Seattle, Spencer (Erin Golden) of Denver, and five grandchildren - Jonathan, Sawyer, William, Ryan and Millie. She joined her sister, Molly Boatman (Bob) in heaven approximately 22 hours after Molly died. The sisters were born one day (and six years) apart and decided to depart this earth on the same day.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 22nd at 2:30 p.m. at Christ's Episcopal Church, 615 4th St. in Castle Rock, CO 80104.
