Raelee A.
Frazier
January 15, 1945 – October 17, 2024
Raelee Frazier, born January 15, 1945, was the second child of Lester Cordell Lyon and Doris Irene Lyon (Blackburn), passed from this life to the next on October 17, 2024. She was born in Russell Kansas. As a child she lived in Plainville KS where she went to primary school through high school. After graduating from high school in 1962, Raelee attended Fort Hays State College (now a university) After graduating from Fort Hays she shook the dust of small-town Plainville KS and headed for the higher ground of Denver CO where she remained for most of the rest of her days!
Raelee's love of art and entrepreneurial spirit led to her start her own business, Highland Studios, primarily an artistic mold-making business. She made molds for bronze sculptures, manikins for museums and did other projects requiring her special ingenuity and mold making skills. She also, in partnership with Charlie Metro created Hitter's Hands, life-cast bronze sculptures of Hall-of-Fame and Negro League baseball players with their bronze hands holding bats or balls. From there she expanded the business to include the life-cast hand of other famous figures, such as Super Bowl winning Quarterbacks with their hands on footballs, and Sir Edmund Hillary's hand holding an ice ax. She met many interesting people throughout her years of doing this. She was also interviewed by local television personalities and newspaper journalists over the years. She also had stint on Harry Kary's radio program! (You'll have to look that one up!) Her works appear in private collections and museums.
When she retired from Highland Studios, she continued to make use of her love and knowledge of baseball (and people) by working at the National Ball Park Museum in Lodo. She worked with the collection and displays, gave tours, ventured into social media creating publicity, and organized volunteers for various events they hosted. Raelee was always ready to learn new things and not one to sit at home; during the last several years of her life worked as a receptionist at Dicks Sporting Goods Park, expanding her sports knowledge to include Soccer. Raelee was a great encourager and mentor to many who loved her. Her absence leaves a large hole in their lives.
Raelee leaves behind Carol Duarte (Frazier), her husband Ino and their two children Sam and Teddy, James Frazier, his wife Beth and their three children Sandra, Gabriella and Aiden (Brenna), as well as two nieces, Trish Stephen (Scott) and Coleen Stevens (Lee). Raelee loved all of them and their families very much (and they her). Raelee is proceeded in death by her husband Nathan Frank Frazier IV – known to all as Frank, her parents, sister Jackie Hardesty, brother-in-law Paul Hardesty, nephew-Mark Hardesty. She also leaves behind some stellar friends, who have been by her side for many years-and who the family greatly appreciates, Karen, Marta, Dave, Ron, Lowell, Roma, Chris and many more!
