Ray Horst, 87, passed away peacefully from natural causes on December 23,2023 at South Valley Post Acute Rehabilitation in Denver. He was born on June 15, 1936, in Denver, Colorado. He graduated from East High school and spent his entire life in Denver.

Ray retired from NPT trucking in 1993. He and his wife Mary had many interests and hobbies including but not limited to; rocks and minerals, reptiles, jewelry making, photography, bird watching as well as model trains, planes and automobiles. They volunteered in many clubs and made numerous friends. They also had a great love for the Southwest particularly New Mexico and traveled there often.

Some of Ray's favorite things were Jazz, classical music and cats.

He is survived by his son Jerry, nephews Tim, Jim and Ron Merrick, best friend Robert Brown, dear friend Mary Patterson and his beloved cat Sandy. Ray was preceded in death by his wife Mary Horst (Reed), his son David, sister Doris (Merrick) and brother Alex.

A special thanks to the staff at South Valley for their love and care and to Jillian who adopted Sandy and brought him to see Ray on his last day.

Ray was a kind sweet man and had such a positive impact on those he met we will miss him so much.
