Robert "Bob"
F. Martin
August 31, 1959 – June 4, 2025
Robert Martin, the beloved husband of Jo Axelrod Martin, passed away in Denver, Colorado, on June 4, 2025, leaving a space his family and friends cannot fill. Bob was born in Los Alamos, NM and spent much of his adult life in Denver. He graduated from New Mexico State University and had a long and successful career in finance; finishing his career at the Small Business Administration. In his retirement, he worked on his golf handicap, and he volunteered his time at Humane Colorado as a vet tech where he was beloved by all who worked with him. It is miraculous he did not bring home a new pup every week.
Bob is known for his sense of humor – always quick with a funny story. Not a day went by when he did not make someone smile. He made friends wherever he went and kept them close, including friends from as far back as grade school. He loved to travel – there is not a beach he did not love. He was an excellent sous chef to Jo's escapades in the kitchen, and he learned to love (or at least abide) whatever new culinary experiment she cooked up. He had a short list of 'don't even ask' ingredients that were forbidden in the house – rhubarb, brussels sprouts, and sushi. He never got to sport the shamrock tattoo he always teased; there is no doubt he has one now in heaven.
Bob was a loving husband, brother, and uncle. Four sisters survive him: Kathryn Louise and her husband Lee Jones, Debra Lee and her husband Nathan Smith, Mary Christine and her husband Daniel Leddy, Margaret Grace and her husband Michael Leach as well as his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Vanessa Axelrod and her husband William McClearn. He also leaves behind thirteen beloved nieces and nephews, twenty-one great nieces and nephews and their pup, Rosie.
He joins his parents Robert Auld Martin and Elizabeth Farley Martin, his sister Patricia Glass, and his nephew, Major Durwood "Rocky" "Hawk" Jones; all of whom we know were waiting for him with open arms.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at 1:30 pm at Augustana Lutheran Church, 5000 E Alameda Ave, Denver, CO 80246. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to either Humane Colorado or the Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies (GRRR).
