Obituary

Robert Edward Paige passed peacefully from this world into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 7, 2023. He is the son of Arlie Edward and Julia Marie Davis Paige. Survivors are sons Roger Scott (Amy) Paige and Sean Edward Paige, both of Texas, long time stepbrothers Richard (Carol) Duree of Salina, Kansas, and Steve (Gail) Duree of Denver, members of Meg's family, and many close friends in Parker. Bob was predeceased by his parents, his wife Mary Ellen Greenlee (Meg), brother Leroy Franklin Paige, and sister Lois Paige Wheeler Rosmarin.

Bob was born on June 30, 1940, in Paterson, New Jersey. He graduated from South High School and studied seminary courses at the University of Denver.

Bob was a man of strong Christian faith, despite the heartache he experienced throughout his life. When Bob was finishing high school, he and his father lovingly cared for his mother before her passing.

When Bob's dad remarried, God blessed him with a new family, including two brothers.

Alie and Ruth Duree Paige started the first Pittsburgh Paint store in Parker and Bob assisted them with it. Arlie and Bob were both ham radio operators. Bob obtained his father's call sign after his death.

Bob was a hard worker throughout his life. He was proud of his work as a large equipment operator and site manager for the then named Buckley Air National Guard Base, his work as a Chaplain for the Littleton Fire Department, and Chaplain for the Colorado State Patrol.

While living in Parker, Bob was an Assistant Fire Chief for the volunteer Parker Fire Department. He had many stories to tell about his time there. Unfortunately, he saw and experienced heartbreaking things while on the job. He turned to alcohol and went through a dark and painful period in his life.

Bob was quite forthright in sharing with others that he had struggled with alcohol addiction. He was over forty years sober when he died. He met Meg at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. She was a precious gift of God to him. They shared a deep and abiding love for one another and for Christ. They both had suffered pain and loss in their lives. Bob and Meg used their experiences to better understand those they served together as Chaplains at Parker Valley Hope and elsewhere. Bob and Meg served in several capacities at Cherry Hills Community Church and Parker Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

Bob and Meg shared over thirty years together, including their courtship. They loved to dance. It was beautiful to watch them together--they were so much in love. Meg supported Bob's running, including training for, and running in marathons. They both loved singing and precious time with family. Bob sang with the Parker Chorale and the Higher Ground Men's Chorus. Bob faithfully and tenderly cared for Meg when she was suffering from dementia. He was determined to provide loving care for her at home just like the care that he and his father had provided for Bob's mother.

In the last year, Bob volunteered when he could, helping to lead hymn sings at Victorian House Assisted Living Community in Parker. After several hospitalizations, Bob was admitted to Swedish Hospital in Englewood, which is where he died while receiving hospice care.

Bob's family has tremendous respect for the man Bob became after such a rough start in life. They respect his tenacity in being sober for forty plus years. They are impressed that he continued to obtain training in the various areas that he worked in and volunteered. They hope Bob will be remembered for his Christian faith, his kind spirit, his loyalty, and how helpful and encouraging he was to others. Bob's friends and family ask that we honor his memory by continuing to seek after God, even when we walk through the valley of the shadow of death. Bob would encourage us to cling to our faith, as he did, especially in the darkest of times. He would ask us to then extend God's kindness and mercy to others who are struggling. That is how Robert Edward Paige lived his life and he would want others to do the same.

Celebration of Life will be held on December 2, 2023, 2:00pm at Parker Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 9030 Miller Road, Parker, CO 80138.
