Obituary

Saletha Katherine Young Isaacson, age 81, passed on Friday, March 22, 2024 peacefully in her sleep. She was born at the Army Air Corp Base hospital in Boca Raton, Florida during a blackout on March 12, 1943 to Nelson James Young and Ann Saletha Armstrong Young. She was reared in Detroit,Michigan. Smart as a whip and a "ring leader" from the start, she skipped third grade and graduated from Redford High School in 1961. She attended University of Colorado in Boulder, later graduating from Florida International
University in Miami, Florida.

She was a Certified Public Accountant by profession but was involved in so much more. In Denver she worked for Nurse Family Partnership, and supported several other organizations involved in women's reproductive rights. She was a very active member of the First Unitarian Society of Denver, Denver, CO for over twenty five years. In honor of her organizational skills and years-long involvement in Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado in 1998 she was honored, along with Jake, her husband, and Amy, her daughter, as Colorado's "Volunteers of the Year."

Being of a curious nature, she was constantly seeking knowledge on virtually everything - nature, politics, history, and travel. Sally was always eager to share what she had learned with anyone who was willing to listen. She was concerned about our country and worried about the future of democracy. Resilience, curiosity, compassion and commitment were qualities that helped Sally navigate life: resilience allowed her to respond and grow from the challenges she faced; curiosity and compassion opened her heart to people she met; and commitment characterized her deeply held belief in being of service to others and being a stellar mother to daughter Amy.

Sally is survived by her daughter, Amy Lea Isaacson, brother Reuel Anthony Young, sister Nancy Lea Young Chandler; nieces Katherine Louise Chandler Vanlandingham, Jennifer Lynn Chandler, Abbigale James Sieber, Rylee James Vanlandingham; and nephews James Hoke Chandler, Brian Lee Vanlandingham, Preston Reuel Allen Young, Parker Gregory Young, Waylon Moses Chandler, and Trey Matthew Black. She was preceded in death by her parents Nelson James Young and Ann Saletha Armstrong Young, and ex-husband Jacob (Jake) Isaacson.
