Sharon F.
Hergenreter
Dec 30, 1943 — May 27, 2026
Sharon Hergenreter (Fryrear) peacefully departed this life on May 27, 2026 to continue her journey. Born on December 30, 1943 to Merle and Genevieve Fryrear, Sharon was raised in Holyoke, Colorado where she developed a lifelong love of gardening, nature and the outdoors. Sharon found joy and peace in the natural world throughout her life.
While attending Western State College in Gunnison, CO she met the love of her life, Stan Hergenreter. Together they built a life centered on family, kindness and caring for others.
Throughout her life, Sharon dedicated herself to nurturing and supporting children. She began as a home daycare provider, later owned and operated The Peanut Gallery Child Development Center, and eventually became a teacher with Jeffco Schools. Her work reflected her generous spirit and unwavering belief in the potential of every child. Even after retirement, Sharon continued to share her love of learning through Sharon’s Little Library, creating a place where neighborhood children and families could discover books, exchange stories, and foster a lifelong love of reading.
Above all, Sharon found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved. Her sister in law, Eula once said, “She was the glue–the one who kept us talking and connecting.” Sharon had a remarkable gift for bringing people together, nurturing relationships, and making everyone feel welcome. Some of her happiest years were spent caring for her beloved grandchildren, Indy and Finn, creating treasured memories they will carry with them always.
Sharon is survived by her devoted husband, Stan; her daughter Sara (Kevin); her son Kyle (Suzanne); and her grandchildren, Indiana and Finn. She is also lovingly remembered by her brother, Max (Candace), along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life for all family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026 in Highlands Ranch, CO. More information will be forthcoming.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of choice. #rememberthelove
