Sherwood A. Elkind

Sherwood Elkind, our Papa, passed away on September 4 at the age of 76.

Papa was an angel on earth. He was a gentle, kind, and compassionate man with a playful spirit he never outgrew.

He loved music, with a particular devotion to Mozart, and playing his piano. He enjoyed working in his wood shop, off-roading in his Jeep, and perfecting a recipe in his kitchen. He was a lifelong numismatist, and he loved billiards too.

His impeccable style never went unnoticed. And for all that polish, he was still the kind of fella who might, without warning, ball up his napkin at a formal dinner and throw it across the table at you.He was devoted to his children and grandchildren, and he worked his whole life to take care of them. He did it well.He saw the best in every person, and that’s all he saw. Papa will be deeply missed.The room will never be the same without him in it.
