Thomas S.
Boa
September 20, 1927 – June 21, 2022
Tom went to meet the Lord at sunrise on June 21, 2022. A devoted husband of 70 years, father of three, and grandfather. He was kind, giving, humble and patient.
He came from humble beginnings, born September 20, 1927 at home on the farm to Grace Margaret Shepherd Boa and William Donald Simpson Boa in St. Hermas, Quebec, Canada.
Tom worked on the dairy farm while growing up. In August 1951 he married Mabel (Belle) Edna Meyer. In 1953 they moved to western Canada. Tom was on the team building the International Canadian Pipeline. He was a certified hotline welder. His first child a son, was born in Regina, Saskatchewan.
The family moved to Grand Junction, Colorado in 1955. He was a drilling rig mechanic and field serviceman for Gardner Denver, working in water and mineral exploration. He travelled all week, returning each Friday evening to be home with family which now included two daughters.
Expertise in land formations for the Northwest US and drilling rig requirements led to job advancement and the family moved to Arvada in 1970. He was instrumental in design and development of Heli portable drilling rigs. He worked worldwide.
After moving to Arvada the family joined the Presbyterian Church. Tom was a Deacon and Elder. He was also a Stephen Minister. He took all duties seriously, and was patient and dedicated.
Tom was very mechanically inclined, although self-taught. These skills and love for family led to projects like: building garages, laying concrete, hauling rock, home remodels and furniture building. No job too big even into his 80s. Later years was an avid patron at garage sales, flea markets and thrift stores. He had a lifelong devotion to the outdoors, and a heartfelt love of land and wildlife.
He is survived by wife Belle, children: Randall Boa (Jefferson Carman), Dawn Romero (Michael) and Robin Boa, and grandson Zachary Romero (Leela Carrol), sister, Margaret MacKenzie. Tom was proceeded in death by his parents and two brothers.
