Obituary

Thompson Tate, Jr., 88, of Denver passed away from Parkinson's disease on June 29, 2022. He was born in Berwyn, Illinois on October 7, 1933 to Thompson Tate and Lottie Ruth (Woodhead) Tate.

Tom attended Williamsburg Elementary School and Fulton High School in Missouri. From 1953 to 1957, he served in the US Navy where he was an Aviation Electronics Technician 1 in Patrol Squadron Two during the Cold War. He received a Bachelors and a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri in Columbia after his military service and was employed by McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft Corporation from 1963-1993. On August 21, 1960 he married Juanita S. (Windsor).

Tom was passionate about skiing and loved ski racing and playing golf. He was an avid University of Missouri football fan, and enjoyed spending time at the family farm in Missouri. Tom played the guitar, liked all kinds of music, and enjoyed opera. His greatest pleasures, however, were his family and friends.

Tom is survived by his wife, son Douglas L. Tate (Lisa Robertson) and granddaughter Ashley N. Tate (Shelby O'Brien) of Denver; step granddaughters Allison Robertson (Ryan Dansby) and Emily Robertson-Allen (Jeremy Allen) of California; brother Roger L. Tate, Highlands Ranch, Colorado; sister-in-law Mary Belle Starkey of Mineola, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in Williamsburg Community Cemetery in Missouri later this summer.
