Vi
Donahoe
September 27, 1935 – March 28, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Vi Donahoe. Born in New Jersey, she moved with her parents and kids to Littleton, Colorado in 1975 for a new life. She was an avid and devoted Denver Bronco fan for 40+ years. Vi was a loving mother to 4 (daughters: Lori Echols, Michele Bello, Sons: Kevin Broder (Mary Broder), and Steven Broder) a grandmother to 6 (Chris Reish. (Jenn Izzo Reish), Brianne Black (Jason Black), Beau Butler (Ashley Steerman), Brittany Holderness (Justin Holderness), Melissa Adams (Travis Adams), Michael Montoya (Amanda Montoya), and great grandmother to 14 (Damian, Izabelle Jaelyn, Kellan, Brynn, Charlee, Emma, Baby Holderness, Isley, Caden, Laila, Kaia, Lucas, Levi). She was an aunt to generations of nieces and nephews that adored her. Family and Friends were everything to Vi and she was greatly loved by all.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Edward J Donahoe Sr and Viola V Donahoe, siblings: brother Edward J Donahoe II, Gerald Donahoe and sister Geraldine (Sis) Cleary and her great granddaughter Izabelle Rosado. Our hearts rejoice in the fact she had quite the welcoming party in heaven.
For all that knew and loved Vi, they will agree she loved to laugh. She had a great sense of humor that served her well throughout her life. She believed that laughter was truly the best medicine. If there was one thing that was often heard from her house, it was love and laughter! She passed her appreciation for humor on to her kids.
One of her many delights was shopping like a maniac at the Dollar Store buying little treasures for special people in her life. It could be a favorite sweet, a toy, coloring book, or even holiday decorations. Vi loved to travel and see new places. She had great memories including a 2001 Caribbean Cruise with her family, a visit to San Antonio and Rockport, Texas, experienced a Buffalo Roundup in South Dakota, went to Santa Fe, NM, saw the fall colors on a New England Cruise, experienced glaciers in Alaska, but her favorite memories were the summers at the Jersey Shore.
Vi had a posse of canasta playing girlfriends. Never a big fan of cards, canasta became a passion. Her Friday table game dates with the girls was something she looked forward to and cherished; especially the variety of snacks that arrived!!!
Always up for adventure, Vi loved her 'lunch bunch' dates at the Buck Center with her buddies from the neighborhood. On occasion, she'd go with the group to DCPA and catch a live play or concert. Vi enjoyed the arts. This included the theatre but also Cherry Creek Arts Fest, Denver Art Museum, and more.
A Celebration of Life will be planned and announced by the family in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in her name to the Make A Wish Foundation of Colorado . This charity was near and dear to Vi's heart and she believed in its mission.
