Virginia Russell West, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026, at the age of 95. She was born on December 12, 1930 in Newbury, Massachusetts. Virginia was the cherished daughter of Bertha and Samuel Russell. She was the 7th child out of 11. With 10 sisters and brothers, she grew up knowing how important family was. She maintained contact as long as possible with her siblings and valued them all so much.

Virginia met her husband, Gordon West, at Pearly High School, and they were married in 1952. She was a devoted mother to her four children: Gordon (Debbie, who preceded her in death), Gini (Jane), Laurie and Douglas (who preceded her in death). Gordon, Laurie, and Gini were the center of her world, and she took immense pride in each of them.

Virginia was a doting grandmother to Jeremy (Brittney), Melonie, Kortney, and Kellen (Anna). Her love expanded with each generation as she welcomed her great-grandchildren: Bailey, Jaden, Mykayla, Kaitlynn, Ryan, Coalton, Adalind, Piper, Delilah, Lennox, and the newest baby West on the way. Her legacy also reached her great-great-grandchild, Winona.

Virginia was a lifelong member of the Methodist Women’s group, and her faith was the bedrock of her life. She had a song to sing for every occasion and loved to dance whenever music was played. Everywhere she went, Virginia made friends; her warmth and kindness touched countless lives.

One thing is for sure; anyone who crossed her path was beyond lucky to have gotten time around her and was guaranteed a fantastic story, pure optimism, and a hug bigger than she was in size. Virginia was a woman of great strength, resilience, and love, and she will be deeply missed by all.
