Obituary

Walter Sagara, born in Los Angeles, California, and on November 9, 2023, he left this world with the humor, love and zest for life that defined him.

After a career as a budget analyst with the Denver Public Schools, he embraced retirement. His days were filled with strikes and spares on the bowling alley, great shots on the golf course, strategic bridge games, and taking in the outdoors.

Family was Walt's greatest treasure, and he had a knack for turning every moment into a celebration. From the car trip through Monument Valley to the snowy slopes of Aspen, the family Thanksgivings in Las Vegas, and the annual family vacations to Vail, Walt filled his family's life with vibrant and unforgettable memories.

Walt became quite the cook. Whether it was New Year's celebrations or holiday gatherings, Walt's dishes were eagerly anticipated, each bite a testament to his joy of cooking for family and friends.

Wherever Walt went, laughter and fun followed. He was the favorite uncle, the life of the party, and the one who could make everyone laugh. A natural athlete, Walt earned accolades as one of the best high school shortstops from none other than Irv Brown of Denver Sports radio.

He is survived by his wife, Chris, his son Mark (Orchid and Avery), daughter Susan (Jason and Kuma), sister Ruth (George), brother Carl, sister-in law Bev (preceded by brother-in-law, Carl), 6 Nieces and 3 nephews (spouses, children and grandchildren).

Walt's family will come together for a small, private gathering to celebrate his life—a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Porter Hospice Residence or an organization of your choice.

Walter Sagara will forever be remembered for a life well-lived and a legacy that will continue to inspire us all.
