Wayne H.
White
November 13, 1937 – April 4, 2022
Wayne Harold White, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son and friend, passed away on April 4, 2022 at age 84. It was the result of complications from Parkinson's disease.
Wayne was born November 13, 1937 in Elko, Nevada to Harold Leslie White and Beulah (Keckler) White. He grew up in Elko until 8th grade, when the family relocated to Reno, NV, where he would attend Reno High School. He played baseball, and was on the debate team. After high school he would go on to attend the University of Utah from 1954 to 1958, getting his degree in political science. While at Utah he became a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He made many friends in the fraternity and continued to stay close with many of them up until his passing. During his summers in college, he would head back to Reno and work as a parking attendant. This also provided the back drop for many funny stories he liked to tell.
On January 17, 1960 he married Janet Wintz in Marla Bay, NV. They moved to San Francisco, where he attended UC Hastings College of Law. Wayne graduated 2nd in his class in 1962, while earning Order of the Coif. He then passed the CA state bar in 1962. While practicing law, he was a partner in the firm Rudy, Rapport, White until 1969. From there he joined a little know company called Victoria Station as their legal counsel and developer. As his career wound down, he worked with Montgomery Securities, as an investment banker, before joining the board of the Cheesecake Factory, where he would finish out his career.
Wayne was a very active member of his church, 1st Presbyterian Church of San Rafael. His real passion was sports. He was a good baseball player as a young man, which provided him future opportunities that he passed up on. His passion with sports continued into coaching long after his career ended. He held season tickets to the Golden State Warriors for many years, while actively being a true Bay Area sports fan. One of his biggest sources of joy was playing golf at the Meadow Club where he was a very active member for many decades.
He is survived by his wife Janet, children Debbie and Curtis, daughter in law Susie, grandkids Austin, Anna, Aiden, and great granddaughter Ava.
