William (Bill) Hartwell Eggert, 66, of Centennial, CO, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026, after a 15-month battle with colon cancer.

Bill was born September 13, 1959, in Atchison, KS, the son of Thomas Russell and Audrey (Grossart) Eggert. The family moved to Deerfield, IL, in 1965, when Bill started 1st grade, and then to Littleton, CO, in 1971. Bill attended Littleton Public Schools and graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1977. Bill then attended the University of Colorado at Boulder. A member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity, Bill graduated from CU in May 1981 with a bachelor's degree in business. Bill was an active supporter of his AHS Class of 77, spearheading many of their reunions, and a passionate Buff supporter throughout his life.

After college, Bill met Elizabeth D. Burgess at a party thrown by mutual friends at Cherry Hills Country Club. Their marriage was in her hometown of Estes Park, CO, on July 12, 1986. They celebrated their 40th anniversary at home with all their family in July. Bill and Elizabeth were blessed with two children - a daughter, Endsley Kells, in 1991, and a son, Andrew Chapman, in 1994.

Bill started his career in financial planning at Connecticut General and later moved to Bachman & Associates. After a few years, he and another planner started Anderson Eggert Inc, where he earned his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification. In 1990, Bill started Eggert Financial Management, Inc., continuing his passion for helping his clients with all their financial needs. Many of the clients who started with him at the beginning remained with him until he had to sell his practice. Over the years, they became more than clients, and Bill was fortunate to call them friends.

Bill loved music. He started playing the upright bass in the jazz band at Newton Middle School and continued playing music in high school by joining the Littleton Community Jazz Band. One of Bill’s most cherished memories was playing at the 1976 Montreux Jazz Festival in Montreux, Switzerland, with the Littleton Community Jazz Band. He was still friends with many of these bandmates. During high school, Bill also became a member of the band Euphoria, playing the bass guitar. Euphoria was together throughout Bill’s years at CU, and they played gigs at numerous venues and private parties. Later, Bill joined Dogs in the Yard for several years, and most recently was a member of County Line, a country rock band, from 2019 until the fall of 2025, when he couldn’t play anymore.

Bill was known for his quick wit, humor, and puns – qualities he surprised his family with even on his hardest days. He was a phenomenal skier, a passion he passed on to each of his children, and which inspired a second home in Crested Butte (CB). For the past 10 years, nearly all family holidays were spent in CB. He loved golf and played at prestigious clubs such as Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill in California, Bandon Dunes in Oregon, the Yellowstone Club in Montana, St. Andrews in Scotland, and several courses in Ireland, including Royal Portrush. He was especially proud of his hole-in-one at Glenmoore Country Club, where he was a member for 24 years. Bill loved scuba diving and made it a point to dive on any tropical vacation. He earned his Ni-Dan 2nd Degree Black Belt from Peoples Kenpo Karate, hiked mountains, and loved playing racquet sports and card/board/dice/puzzle games. He enjoyed traveling, particularly to Hawaii, Europe, and the Caribbean, and got to see a lot of the world with his family.

Bill’s goal during his illness was to meet his two grandchildren. Ivy Adeline Eggert was born in March, and Jackson Marshall Geiger was born five days before Bill’s passing in August. Bill was able to meet and hold both of his grandchildren, memories the family will always cherish.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth of Centennial; daughter Endsley K Geiger and her husband Jay of Denver, CO, Andrew C Eggert and his partner Casey Austin of Lone Tree, CO; grandchildren Ivy and Jackson; Brother Charles R. Eggert and his wife Holly of St. Louis, MO, sister Constance G. Eggert of Centennial, CO; mother-in-law Janet B. Burgess of Sun City Center, FL; sister-in-law Nancy J. Burgess of Sun City Center, FL; nephews and niece Charles A. Eggert and his wife Lauren of Menlo Park, CA, Melissa W. Gustafson and her husband Andrew of Chanhassen, MN, Robert B. Normali of Loveland, CO, Connor R. Julien of Centennial, CO, and three great-nieces. Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 3 PM at Columbine Country Club, 17 Fairway Lane, Littleton, CO 80123.
