William Beltaire Shepard November 5, 1930- January 28, 2022
It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we write this obituary. Our Dad, Grandfather and Great Grandfather was a wonderful, kind man that enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a Frank Sinatra kind of man wanting to fly to the moon and play amongst the stars and do it his way. He was born to Gladys and Morton Shepard November 5, 1930 in Danbury Connecticut. He was the youngest of four brothers, Morton, George and John and the last to survive. Everyone knew him as Bill, Bill Shepard. Bill attended Wooster prep-school and continued to keep Wooster close to his heart.
Bill was a true athlete excelling in everything he pursued. He loved sailing his boat, running to go play tennis and more tennis. Skiing down the steepest mountain with style and grace. When the wind was up he was out flying his kite. He loved ice hockey and was great at that too. His biggest love came when he met his wife Carol Brennan, they were college sweethearts and married in 1955. His first trip to Colorado was taken by train to attend Colorado College, then off to Denver University for a masters, he never looked back. Living in Colorado brought new adventures and many, many life long dear friends. Bill always led a very busy life coming and going with activities, friends, family, clubs, and volunteering. Later in life he enjoyed watching his grand children play tennis, taking photographs, chasing the squirrels with his BB gun, tending his garden, meeting up with his friends and finding the tennis channel. His only real obstacle in life was his Parkinson's. He was very determined not let it slow him down from doing the things he loved.
In the end Parkinson's won, he passed peacefully at home with family by his side. Bill leaves behind all the ladies in his life, wife Carol, daughters, Susan, Ann and Jessica, grand daughters, Audrey, Catherine, Grace, Caitlian, Caroline, Hannah, Kate, great grand daughters, Frances and Cynthia.
