James Steven Fuqua was born on January 14, 1954 in Modesto, California to James and Annella Fuqua. Steve passed away Friday May 1st, 2020 from natural causes at the age of 66.

Steve was a California native who moved to Colorado in his late teens. He would soon return to California to be with his future wife Melanie. Even though he was only eighteen and she was only sixteen and had very little money, Steve knew what would make him happy. They took a plane to Vegas where they slept in the airport and were married on August 12, 1972, spending 47 years together. Steve left a legacy of 3 children and 4 grandchildren who will always remember him lovingly.

Steve worked in the grocery industry for over 30 years; the majority of those years were at a King Soopers store in Littleton, Colorado where he made many friends. He was known for his excellent customer service, spotless dairy, and friendly attitude. Steve retired early due to complications from cancer treatment that left him with a weakened heart.

Steve was one of those people who always made you laugh, either because he was funny, satirical, or sometimes just outrageous. His favorite hobbies were gambling and fishing and he did both often. He was a HUGE BRONCOS fan as well. Although his time on this earth was cut short, he lived life to the fullest. He made sure that holidays and vacations were always special for his family.
He will be missed by all his friends and especially by the family he leaves behind.

He is survived by his wife Melanie and his brother Robert (Carolyn); children: James (Dana), Laura (Marie) and Daniel (Ariel); and grandchildren: Ian, Christopher, Aria and Blake. He also leaves behind numerous extended family members including Matthew Brychel. Steve was preceded in death by his father James, his mother Annella, and his brother Thomas.
